Hi guys, even if a nurse make a hundred dollar an hour in the USA, it does not worth it. Some of us nurses are saying that a registered nurse in the USA is a modern slave. The pay you get does not match the work you do and the abuse from some patients and the family, "gyae" don't talk about it. In some areas in the USA, the ratio of nurse/patient is horrible. Also Ghanaians should get it from me today that the nurses pay in the USA varies from state to state and from unit to unit. For example if a nurse works at the ICU, that nurse will be paid more than the nurse in the med/surge floor or the psyche unit. Also the nurse in New York Stat and that of Texas do not get the same pay. Some Ghanaians church elders and priests thinks that the fact that you are a nurse means that you are a money making machine. Some families are broken because the husband thinks his wife is a registered nurse so he is not working. He has married a money making machine. Even the church priests and the elders thinks that the other nurse is not honest with his tithing because the other nurse who works in the ICU is paying more than the stroke unit nurse. They even forget about the student loan you are paying. I wish Al Gore was the USA president then people will get my point across.
