60th anniversary of the Battle of Myohaung celebrated

Apremdo (W/R), Jan. 23, GNA - A Drum-Head Service to mark the 60th anniversary of the Battle of Myohaung was on held at The Second Battalion of Infantry at Apremdo near Takoradi on Friday. The parade, which was under the command of Major G. E. Afful, was formed by contingents from the Second Battalion of Infantry, Western Naval command and Takoradi Air Force Station. The Takoradi Air Force Station Regimental Band provided ceremonial music.

Brigadier-General J. B. Danquah, General Officer Commanding Southern Command, was the reviewing officer and Mr Joseph Boahen Aidoo, Western Regional Minister, was the guest of honour.

The service was conducted by Captain (Reverend) A. Y. Boateng, Lt. (Reverend) Adjei Djan and Warrant Officer Class one Ahmed Abdulai, Imam. Prayers were offered for peaceful general elections and for Ghanaians to elect people capable of steering the affairs of the state in the forthcoming general elections.
