Barber wins Upper West GT Phone Card Raffle

Wa, Dec. 31, GNA - The Ghana Telecom phone card promotion raffle was held at Wa on Tuesday with Mr Ali Yakubu, a 20-year-old professional barber of Wa, picking the one million cedis cash prize, which he won with a 25 unit Ghana Telecom phone card.

The largely youthful crowd, which converged at the premises of the Wa offices of the Ghana Telecom to witness the event cheered loudly as the name of the barber, popularly known as 'Alhaji Haircut' was announced as winner of the regional raffle.

Mr James Atiapah, Wa Area Manager of Ghana Telecom presented the cash prize to the winner.

He said the other envelopes not picked at the regional promotion raffle would be sent to Accra for a grand national draw later in the new year.

Mr Atiapah said the raffle was a means by which GT could give "Christmas and new year bonus" to its customer on whose patronage the growth of Ghana Telecom depends.

He announced that two more of the promotion raffle would be held at Tumu and Lawra on January 16 and 30, 2004 respectively. He said Tuesday's raffle was the ninth in a series of regional promotion raffle.
