Your music must say something – Kojo Antwi to musicians

Kojo Antwi, Maestro Kojo Antwi, Maestro

Legendary Ghanaian musician Kojo Antwi says Ghanaian musicians must include relevant messages in their lyrics if they want to leave a legacy.

A well known figure in the Ghanaian music circles, Kojo Antwi has carved a niche for himself as one of the best musicians the country has produced.

The Maestro has released some great hits which include Afrafranto, Groovy, and Mr. Music man amongst others.

Speaking exclusively to Paa Kofi Nyarko on GH Classics on 3FM 92.7MHz, Kojo Antwi advised present day musicians to use relevant messages which will still live on when they are no more.

“These are the songs and those are the words that will live after you are gone because the ones that you sing about yourself, your woman will die off”.

He, however, cited war veteran Bob Denard, who was honoured quite recently with the Nobel Peace Prize for literature, for works that he did during the Vietnam War as an example of a legend who is still remembered for his good deeds on earth.

“I have been saying this on other platforms because I want people to know that somebody is listening to us so you must say something. “You shouldn’t just do songs to make money and just get gifts but you have to say something to the people.”
