That Ghanaian actress should have given that slut of a stewardess a hefty slap in her face. That is the only language that white racists understand. At the very minimum you should shout verbal insults back at them. It is only then that you see them crumble into an emotional wreck.

Of course there are also many Africans who dont even sense it when they are being subjected to racist attacks and they smile back or capitulate in fear when faced with racist attacks as if it is nothing to worry about.

I am glad that at the very least, you (the stewardess) have taken the scum to court. Make sure that you get a good lawyer and not one like some of the bush boys and girls on this platform who are supporting racism against themselves.

Why should an airline care if when giving out drinks you as the passenger decide to not consume the said item on board but take it away with you. The fact is that in coach you are usually given a couple of free alcoholic drinks plus beverages and water. This is standard on most airlines like KLM and BA, I know the Americans are so stingy they charge for everything served in Coach but that's another story. I agree with Yvonne that she was treated with contempt. Incase you don't realise these airlines are over charging on their African routes to subsidise their routes given competition to North America as well as the other continents and are so f'ing contempt when dealing with us. Yvonne you are absolutely doing the right thing and for what it's worth you have my full support.

Due to this treatment, Yvonne complained to the Purser (senior cabin crew member) who confirmed that KLM has a policy which restricts certain passengers’ choice of beverages and how beverages are consumed when travelling to either Ghana or Nigeria ‘as passengers on these routes had a tendency to take advantage of the drinks and take them home’.”

When Yvonne questioned the Purser about the criteria used when applying this alleged policy, the Purser confirmed that there are no formal criteria used when deciding who should be refused the reduced service as it is based on the cabin crew members’ instincts or perception.

They gave a stupid reason that African passengers will take their drinks home if they don't pour it for them. This is blatant racism and nothing else. They will never think of treating their passengers on North American routes this way, because the moment they do they will go bankrupt. I have seen passengers on North American routes take the drinks they give them home from the economy class so why don't they take the same attitude to their North American flights. I had a very rude service from a male flight crew from Accra to Amsterdam in January 2000. Some of them, not all, are very disrespectful to black passengers. It is even worse at Schipol Airport with the Employees who do the pre-boarding checks. One idiot who I considered to be a neo Nazi called me Nana when I gave him my passport on my way back to North America from Accra. Indeed because of the disrespectful nature of some of these guys, a lot of Ghanaians have stopped flying with KLM altogether. Now there is a competition from Ethiopian Airlines that flies directly to Africa instead of having to go and wait for more than 6 hours before connecting to Accra with all the jetlag

I have been flying KLM at least four times each year the last 12 years or so for work; never do I recall being discriminated against. What I have to note, however, is the often rude and brash behavior of some of my compatriots, which really put me to shame. Often we get as good as we give.

This particular crew members was very rude and talked to the black people in the airplane any how. She step on my foot whilst serving people. After notifying her that she has steps on my foot, she told me that she does not have eyes on her back.Even though i reported it to a senior member on board, I have decided not to take KLM again. Some of the Crew members look down on black people.

African passengers especially to ghana and Nigeria are fond of stealing drinks and keeping them in their bags to even sell in their home countries so don't blame the airline if they have specific instructions for specific routes!! It's what it is and its practiced by most airlines on different routes!!

From her account, I can figure out that madam Yvonne felt she was very important so the crew gave her same way she had probably talked to her.

Madam Yvonne has gone on to the plane with a pre conceived mindset that it's an European airline so she cld be discriminated against. It's so obvious from the way she is arguing her case. So in this case, she was th one who was being racist!!

If she wants premium service she shld fly, premium economy, business class, first class or private jet!! Cos as long as she flies economy class she won't get a kind of service she dreams of. Pay more, get more, is as simple !!

KLM should have been banned completely from flying to and from Ghana in the first place; these racial attitude on-board KLM has been going on for years and I can confirm that, an apology letter was sent to me by the KLM authorities some years back when I was given similar treatment. Dutch are racist overall and we should not forget the kind of treatment they subjected Black South Africans to when they joined hands with the British to form the so called "Afrikaans" in other words, Anti-Blacks in South Africa.

This is a clear reason why KLM is pulling out of Ghana after running the route for so many years. It's a shame that in this century white people still practice hatred and racism and carry it to foreign lands. It's a shame!

Yvonne, thanks so much for your bold initiative. This racist behaviour of the KLM staff on the Amsterdam Accra route has been ongoing for years. It's about time someone kicked their ars. I have experienced it more than once and at one time I complained to the Senior crew member so this white racist woman was taken away from the aisle where I was to another. It all started when they started serving drinks. I don't drink alcohol so I requested for water, and I was given a 2/3rd full of a plastic disposable cup which is used in the economy class. Other passengers took wine or other drinks. The crew member was passing by and I requested for another water but this lady refused to give to me. Then came the serving of food. This same Dutch lady-cabin crew asked the white people their choice of food on the menu but when she gets to the black people, she will just dump rice on your tray/table-that little thing behind the seat which you bring down to eat on. (For the sake of those who've never boarded an aeroplane). So when she got to our seats -3 in a row and I was by the window. She just dumped rice on our trays. I politely asked her why is it that she asked the white people their choice but when she gets to the black people, she just dump the rice on their tray as I've been watching her. She said that's not true and to buttress my point, I pointed to about six people she just done that to them and the last before us were 3 white passengers behind us and another three black people beside us. She couldn't refute the allegations anymore and I reminded her of the water episode earlier on. At this point, I requested to speak with her senior who after listening to my case moved her to the other side of the plane and brought in a black Dutch lady to continue serving. The senior cabin crew asked the six passengers in mentioned both black and white and they all confirmed my allegations. Please sisters and brothers, I don't think Yvonne has taken this step out of what some of you may term as self importance but to highlight a canker in some foreign airlines treatment to Ghanaians and blacks in general.
And one Jennifer who claims to travel with klm 4times a year, you asked yvonne to travel 1st class or economy comfort. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ECONOMY AND ECONOMY COMFORT? . IT'S JUST THE DIFFERENCE IN THE SPACES OF LEG ROOM AREA OR SIMPLY PUT, THE Economy comfort seat is slightly bigger than the economy seat, that's all. The in flight services are the same. Jennifer, please next time you use klm, please check the difference. How dare the senior cabin crew say that Ghanaians and Nigerians will take the drinks home. What's your business what I do with whatever you give me. We pay for all these when we buy the tickets. And for my fellow country men, that statement in itself was discriminatory and if it's been made in this part of the universe -Europe, I bet the crew member would have been suspended straight away following Yvonne's
Complaint. And this reminds me of a case in Hackney, London where a white policeman stopped a car with 2 black guys in it. One of the guys asked the copy. why he stopped them, and he said they've been instructed to stop cars with 2 or more black people -men in it. The guys took his number as he refused to give his name. They made a formal complaint and after investigation, the copper -police was fired.

Please let support yvonne rather than lambasting her for taking a step to fight for all of us

The white people treat themselves very well and let me tell you something you case won't go anywhere this all Ghanaians know show off. Even the court that you file your sue case will rather go to them and take some money and your case will be hanging where on earth you want a white man to treat you the same like his own white no. Let did you ever hear about the muslim who were in the queue to board a plane to the US whiles in queqe they were called and told that their visa is cancelled and they can't travel to the US without any reason. compare to your case which one is pity?
