The Kumawood part of the industry came into existence because the Ga&Ewe dominated producers in Accra made it a point not just to starve the Twi speaking actors but took pleasure in trying to humiliate them.It didn't work.And now they are turning against each other while the movies from Kumasi thrive.When I left Kumasi I spoke to some producers and they all seem to want better equipments and transcribing equipment to help translate their movies into English and French.You see, they are not reactive as the ones in Accra.

Just like racism, I believe we cannot completely uproot tribalism. That being said we can work on minimizing it.

I remember an episode of by the fireside where we were told as children it is unlikely to break whole bunch of broom, but easier to break just one. Yes we are stronger together as humans.

When you say Ashantis (meaning all)don't harbor evil intentions for anyone you know that's not true. There are good people and bad people and that's it. Bad people don't come from only one tribe and vice versa.

In as much as you want to believe that just look at your own family there are some members who may not even wish others well and that's just one family.

If you schooled in Ghana you definitely had classmates from other tribes who didn't fit into what you perceived those tribe to be.

I am a northerner born and bred in kumasi and so I feel I am a die hard kumasi girl. Most of my friends are Akan and we love ourselves.

In America here they believe the nation was built with the help of immigrants as well. Same with Ghana every region is built with people from all tribes.

I take care of children back home who are of Akan descent. I feel we are all one people. When I first came to America I was helped by Akans. Funny how when you travel outside Ghana our love is stronger for one another and back home we tear one another up.

I go for parent teacher conferences for some Ghanaians who are not educated enough to talk with the teachers about their children. And I don't care which tribe they belong to.

So yes it hurts when I see northerners attack Ashantis and the other way round or other tribes calling Ewes names that can kill a soul. Our children here know they are Ghanaians as well and when they meet they don't ask one another if this one is Ashanti, Ewe, Northerner or what have you and that's beautiful.

We have so many issues that affect all tribes in Ghana, but we use all our energy on trivial issues. Always remember good and bad comes in all forms ,shape, gender, and tribe.
