KSM, they have hinted about this over a year before they went on strike. Gvt called their bluff and so they need to show that they are not joking. If small boys who could not even pass their exams are now ridding expensive cars and earning fat salaries for doing nothing bcos of politics why won't Doctors strike for conditions of service?

I don't think it is the Doctors fault, they made their intentions know about a year ago, however, bcos of the unserious attitude of govt , he did not attached any attention to it. Doctors should stand their grounds and demand for their right once and for all. Their colleagues in abroad are doing far better than them. they have enough education compare to the politicians, yet it is the later which makes more gain when it comes to earnings. I don't think doctors are the ones joking with human lives. I rather think it is the govt instead. Why can't govt give the same condition to Gh doctors as he has been doing to the Cuban doctors. this is insane is one of the reasons why brain drain is high in Ghana.

Good point km but how many Cuban doctors are we talking about and for how long are they gonna be in Ghana for? The point is how are we gonna sustain our developing economy by agreeing to those conditions of service for thousands of home grown doctors. Common folks let's be realistic. Remember that even Kwabena agyepon of the NPP said that no government could afford those conditions of service. Let's assume for aguememt sake that the doctors get what they want, what happens to the numerous nurses, pharmacists, other medical professionals not to talk of uncountable other noble professionals in the civil service. Ghana's economy is gonna collapse within a year. Please let's all be reasonable and negotiate within the limit of our available resources so that whatever party is in power could work within a sustainable economic environment. God bless our nation GHANA!

Great Article! The message is clear and simple! what are the doctors looking for? Do they need this kind of strike to get what they are looking for and just a show of shear force. I weep for this country because everyone who does not support the ruling Government thinks is about government and as such it does matter if our professionals are playing by the rules or not. Doctors have no business using innocent lives as bargaining chips. It is a curse to get money through other people's death. we call it blood money...

But they are given accommodation , fuel subsidy, paid salaries they go on leave and that is called condition s of what? Can't we see the invincible hands Adams smith talk about in this whole drama? Meanwhile they sa y they did not swear an oath of poverty And servitude but perhaps they swore the oath of riches and lordship ; every morning we carry them in a palanquin to the vaults of Bank of Ghana to go and carry as much money as the want , God save us !

I am very much aware that irrespective of this government's failures, there are many who will support them and I am also aware of the damage being inflicted on my/your country and with no willingness to relinquish power, through the ballot box fairly, all means except for military intervention must be applied.
These doctors are not taking their action kindly and yes they know the core ethics of their profession, scrafices have to made before any good and success can be achieved.
The lost of any human life is regrettable and painful and nobody should conceive the idea that the doctors don't feel bad about it but choice do they have after making more than enough scrafices.
Appeal to the government to talk sensibly and reasonably to the doctors to reach a compromise if you care as you claim to be.
The tone of your language of threats and bulling tactics must cease.
Are the doctors not human beings that because of their chosen profession, they must bear and accept apaling work conditions?

Sometimes it takes war to correct wrongs in society. Read the lips of the doctors, and you would see the motives behind the strike, it is not for their selfish interest, it is a fight for the interest of the common man like you and me who visit hospitals where one doctor is for several hundreds of patients with some lying on concrete floors. They pay medical bills and educate their children abroad and so they know health care and education do not come cheap. Too much money falls between the gaps and that is what this strike is about to change.

KSM has spoken well and non-comically. I would have liked to see the Doctors' strike make some accommodation for emergency care to prevent needless deaths of the innocent Patients.
It is not convincing for the striking Doctors' Spokespersons to disclaim the statistics of reported deaths that could have been prevented by a Doctor's care, while the Doctors are not in the Hospitals to see first-hand who are dying and from what.
Like I have already admonished elsewhere and reinforced here by KSM, there is only one life for everyone of us. Once lost, that life is irrecoverable. However, the Doctors could eventually get all what they are demanding for materially. They could even recover the past due benefits with interests. But the lost lives cannot be recovered, let alone accumulate any interests.
It is from that angle that I support KSM's declaration and add my voice to the calls to have the Doctors return to the Hospitals now.
What still beats my mind is why our Parliament hasn't been able to provide any help to resolve this crisis. One would think that the Parliament would intervene to set the Doctors' worries at rest, and find a way for the Government to finance the demands appropriately. I would like someone who knows more explain to us what exactly has kept the Parliament from such intervention to break the stalemate between the Doctors and the Government.
The Doctors, I believe, deserve more than what they have now. But the approach to demand what they deserve is what has rubbed on the nerves of many of us. It is sad that both the Government and the Doctors are playing the game of toughness at the expense of innocent lives. Both are playing off the urgency of the Doctors' duties. And the Patients are the ones caught in the middle, falling dead at every turn.
Enough is enough! Let the Doctors resume saving Lives, even as they employ other means to force the Government's hand.
Long Live Ghana!!!

Commentary like this from KSM is good but like president Mahama, it looks like he doesn't understand the issues. Talking about people dying? Does he know number of people who have died because of non-payment of NHIS levy by government? Does he know the number of people who have died on Nsawam-Apedwa road or people who have died because government has not paid contractors who have executed projects. KSM managed to change the conditions of his service by changing TGIF to KSM show and all that goes with it. Hasn't he got conditions of service at Metro TV? In fact he has interviewed Ekua Donkor & Hassan Ayariga enough. He should just step out of the comfort of his TV studio and then stretch his imagination a bit & find out about deaths due to non-payment of NHIS by government, deaths on Nsawam-Apdwa road, death to contractors & other deaths due to government shirking it's responsibilities. He can equally bring these to the attention of his fans & the government. Her daughter is training to be a medical doctor. She would like to have conditions of service. KSM can find out from her
