This is an achievement? You being represented indirectly as evil and is funny? We are always associated with the dark, juju, voodoo evil tish and that makes us proud? What's the big deal if a white person speaks twi? We speak and write English too, do they take pride in that? Can this article just disappear, teach the young Ghanaians to love themselves, and not look at the white person as a "god", if we do away with the low self esteem, Ghana would start to see changes. Smh, sad and pathetic

I remember this Ghanaian woman whose child was behind on her speech and the doctor told her some children get confused with 2 languages so she should concentrate on one at a time. The child was spending more hours in daycare and she comes home and the mom speaks only twi, so she started speaking English to her, and the Lil girl improved. But now that she's getting older, she has incorporated the twi language back and Lil girl is doing great. I couldn't understand that coz back in Ghana we spoke our individual dialects at home and English at school and we did great, but you can never judge a parent coz they always want the best for their kids. But overall I see most Ghanaian children here are proud of Ghana though yeah some can't speak twi clearly. I remember back in college they don't hide their identity, they are proud of it, and even if they can't speak it, that pride they have in Ghana is better than some of us Ghanaians who speak it very well and are not proud of where we come from. You meet a Ghanaian pretending to be from Mars and it makes me sick.I'll be the child who is proud of Ghana, but may not be able to speak any Ghanaian language than some of us who were born in Ghana and we come here pretending we are not Ghanaians. I think I went off somehow, but you get it, lol

Mind you every child is different. You know how a child can learn Spanish from kindergarten onwards and get it, it is possible. All Ghanaian children here can't be the same, some speak fluent twi, others understand but can't speak it much, but all I'm saying is I don't dwell on that to equal taking pride in their heritage. I've always argued that them being proud doesn't necessarily mean they should be fluent in twi. I have a family friend whose 2 girls are both medical doctors, down to earth, proud of Ghana, understand twi, always excited when they get patients who are Ghanaians but can't speak except for a few sentences. I'll take that any day than the ones born here, can speak twi like they were born in Ghana, but end up working in a warehouse. All I'm saying is A+ for the parents who are able to teach the language to their kids here, but the most important is teaching them to appreciate the culture and all the good stuff, and to be proud of it. I know what am talking about. I'm from the upper east region, I was born and bred in kumasi, I used to be 1st in twi back in school, my daddy couldn't speak twi well, but my mom was good. They tried, but we were not as fluent with our language as twi, and we were looked down by some of their northern friends whose kids could speak their language in parables, now my siblings and I turned out great as compared to most of those kids, I guess it doesn't matter now whether I'm fluent in frafra or not, mind you I was proud of where I come from, but was judged coz I was not good at the language, I just know that feeling, so I understand when I see those kids who can't speak twi and other Ghanaians criticize their parents for not doing a great job. Oh well I'm personalizing this, lol

Afriyie, thank you for putting across your point without calling others names. It's not necessaily them speaking twi, the point is should we be all excited just coz of this? Don't we get tired of literally worshiping the white man? When would we see ourselves as a people who also matter, and yes our culture including our language matters, I don't need to nationally broadcast that obroni can say a few sentences in twi, this reminds me of being a kid in kumasi, and at the sight of a white person they start singing that song, laughing, we've always placed ourselves low and them on a pedestal. The young Ghanaian child should be taught to know his value and that he can be anything, and compete with anybody of any race, regardless. If Ghanaians speak a few German or Italian sentences in their movie, you think a website would put it out there to glorify them, or make it seem like it is so big of a deal. Indians are proud of their culture not coz a Whiteman can imitate it, they rather feel insulted when people try to do them. They portray themselves on shows, that's how much they're respected. Most Indians in America go higher due to them loving themselves, and their culture, most Africans here still with all the insight still lick ass, we have to be proud of our culture, and this is not the thing which should make us realize we have a rich and beautiful culture. This is the type of thing that can just be spread from friend to friend via all these social media, and not make it here. Well I guess that sleepy hollow got a free ad, and now they'll get some good ratings since people are going to be watching and keeping fingers crossed for the next Ghanaian language who knows what it may be next time, ga, ewe, oh well if it happens we'll see it here, lol
