When these 2 frnds got home, dey made looms and decided 2 try it n dat was how Kente came abt.

My friend, your story is too sweet to be true.Giving names to kente cloth paterns in your language or dialect does not mean that you discovered kente. We are talking of the brain work that went in to inventing the Kente cloth. During the Ashanti wars,while the Ashantis were being driven away from the great Volta Region, they managed to abduct some of the Kente weavers from the southern part of the volt Region to Bonwire in the Ashanti Region. Kente weaving therefore started with the Ewes teaching our bush brothers the act of Kente weavining. Unlike in the Volta Region where the weaving of Kente is wide spread in the South with even JHS girls and old ladies doing the weaving.Apart from that, the Ashantis of old were busy with their wars and had no time come out with any original artistic invention of their own.Another point is , in those days you need to plant cotton and then extract the thread for the kente weaving from the cotton, meanwhile you don't grow cotton in a forest zone, which is the domain of Ashantis. So,please, let's accept the true facts about the origion of Kente and stop the wishful thinking. Facts are sacred.
