So you throwing shade at Ama really is like pointing a finger at someone and the other four fingers pointing at ya. You couda let it pass coz you and her are sadly on the same Level.Learn to love ALL of you. I hope the weave madness just like bleaching would both die coz is just pathetic. ..and both of yall Ama,you shouldn't have thrown her under the bus like that, that's just messy, the chic is already being dissed by so many people including me and you shouldn't have added more fuel to it koraa, you the last to have a voice in this unless you start showing us your own hair and throw away this white trashed out hair then you can come back but for now let this be the end smdh

Thank you so much for bring this issue up! I was just thinking about this until i read your post. Most Ghanaian women are into everything western, we are trying so hard to be something that we are not, fake nails, fake eye lashes, fake hair, makeup, bleaching (sic) etc because we lack self confidence, we think if you do these things it would make you look more beautiful and the men would love you. If you practice any of the above it is not any different from what Ama Boahema is doing, they are all the same"you are fake, and your having an identity crises" so dont condem her, look at Ama Abebrese' is that her natural hair that she is wearing ? My sister you on point. It's heartbreaking. You know how black don't crack ,now black is cracking coz of too much artificial stuff. Black women putting on pounds and pounds of make up and we dunt even need it coz we already got beautiful skin. Most white women can't even leave their house without makeup, you still see them in their cars topping up every red light opportunity they get, and I always count myself blessed that I can go bare and look so good, gosh I so love my skin. And with skin, you can take good care of it with good appropriate Moisturizers and all the good stuff...oils...we do look really ridiculous with all the fake stuff,we really do. The day black women would wise up, the gurus of fake Hair businesses would have funerals from china to America...Awurade mboa y3,smh

They know years down the lane their edges would be looking a mess. There are some girls you would never see their natural hair ever, always in weave, that ain't even normal. Indian, Brazilian, Malaysian hair are different from our hair so why would we carry that on our heads, it's ridiculous. Our men should help us love our God given features by loving us the way we are. I pity the next generation coz it would get to the point where all the girls would be light skinned thru bleaching and no natural hair shall see the light of day. ..fake eyelashes would be a must and there may be a drive thru plastic surgery, smh

Girl this was me since years back. ..I used to go out of my way to defend my weave thing. When I came to America, I was told the same thing so I had to protect my hair with weaves, then as Oprah would say I had an aha moment after talking to this beautiful black girl who wears her hair natural. It's been a couple of years now and I've been rocking my natural hair, and sure thing our hair is hard to manage sometimes especially when you natural but now there are so many products out there to help us be ourselves. And you know your edges would beg to differ in some years down the lane when they started looking so funky from the weave stress. Braiding was the black thing at least that can protect our hair as well (synthetic ).There used to be so many crazy styles that white weekend used to be jealous of, then they gradually made black women kinda loathe that and switch to us looking like their knock offs. Now some black girls are trying to veer off the weave road and embrace who they are, and rock their God given hair, yeah still with lil manipulations here and there. Let's leave the extensions for the white women. Yeah you see some white women tryna be black with this new butt implants /injections to have our kinda booty, and the thick lips we were once ridiculed for is now being copied wth botox and all that. That shows how blessed we are and don't even know it. I bet some girls can start saving for the unknown future and retirement if they let go off this gradually. ..fyi China making tons of money from black women who want to look that way. ..I bet we the joke at their numerous expensive dinners. Maybe someone else would start the anti weave campaign soon

@Adenta is brain washing, and you know how is so easy to manipulate blacks...so gullible. I've been rocking my beautiful natural hair too and even in winter is still ok, you just have to get good products to lock in the moisture and all the good stuff you know. I was wondering if white women living in Africa decide to go "African" on their hair coz of the weather and stuff, but we use that excuse when we in their country to go white. We yearn to be white women so bad and they don't try hard to be us, except now with a few of them trying out butt implants, breast implants, cheek implants and trying to Make their lips look like us. All this shows how they secretly admire our beauty. And I blame these powerful and rich black who still feel inferior inside and still go crazy on all the fake stuff to look like whites. They could have done lots of research into bringing in the market great products for our hair and skin types but no with all their fame and money, they still so insecure (you know some of them),and these are women blacks look up to, so their subconscious minds think oh if she and her are doing it, it must be ok coz they successful, but that dunt make it right, they got issues deep down too.And I feel pity for black American women when they do all that coz they have been told for years how ugly they were, their hair being called nappy and all that, so they try so hard to change all that in their minds to look like the whites so they can be called beautiful. But what excuse do we African women have? We've not experienced slavery, not been through the looking down thing, so why we doing it. Sad part is how a broke black girl can save to buy an expensive thrown out hair and can't even afford Health insurance, whiles young white kids are saving in college to get a down payment for their first home, their black counterparts are busy spending that money on expensive artificial stuff for the body. ..misplaced priorities...we sure need to wake up. ..I'm so emotional right now that it hurts coz most of our black sistas just don't get it.

You can say that again sistah! What i classify this is the "miseducation of the negro" we copy so blindly from these Europeans haba! One thing that i wont even dive into also is our obsession of "The light skin" sistahs. Nowadays all you see in our African movies and elsewhere are light skin people or mixed race which we see them as more beautiful than the darker sistahs, the light skinned are treated better in our homeland than us, they get the best jobs even if they dont have the right qualifications so long us they are light skinned its enough so they look down upon us with stuck up butts, most of our men crave for light skin sistahs because in their gullible minds that is hot and pretty, most of our sistahs would sleep with anybody other than black so that they can get light skinned babies even if they cant trace where this person came from. When it comes to education back home all they teach is English, you see most kids in Ghana cannot even express themselves in our native languages because their parents speak english to them and nothing else because they are ashamed of our native tongues ooo you see what westernization has done to us, i thought the slave master left the shores of Ghana a longtime ago but we are still in mental slavery, most parents prefer English names than our traditional names, I am yet to meet a white person who has taken on an African name like Boatemaa, Naa Kai, or Dzigbordzi for their child. What do we see i think nowadays alot of Ghanaians have taken on Akata names like Jabari, shontel, janikua. Are those names African? Your guess is as good of mine, let me end here by saying unless we AFRICANS wake up from our deep sleep from over glorifying western culture to our own then we are doomed for failure. If only our people knew that all these fake stuff is bad for us they would have taken a step back, its all about low self esteem and Ama Boahemaa is no exception! I guess she figured being light skinned would help her career because of the stigmatization of probably been called ugly for being too black, parents please tell your daughters everyday that they are beautiful no matter what, they would remember it when they are grown and also tell them they shouldn't try to change what God gave them for anything, sistahs out there please embrace your blackness and dont follow blindly...sad but true

Adenta you have said it all. Girl I'm tearing up right now. It hurts so bad when you know all this and most of our sistas don't. You feel so helpless when you see that women back home who have been given the platform are rather abusing it by their obsession of the western things. And the akata names de3,the least said about it the better. One of my friends is called shanaije and she does not even know what it means or the origin of it. So I call her cute ass shay (my pseudonym), she's the light skinned pretty girl but has a whole lot of insecurities, but to the outside world, she's hot and girls would go the extra mile to "lighten" up just to be like her. If only black sistas would know how blessed we are, and embrace everything about us...then again you come back to reality and you scared if we will see such a day. When educated black women dream of having light skinned babies and would be the 20th baby mama for a light skinned ex convict. Sad. ..

It is sad because when some of us who have been enlightened talk about issues like these whilst trying to find a solution to the problem, some of our people would say "you are too known" so people shouldn't pay any attention to what you are saying, the media plays a very important role in our lives "He who controls the media, controls your mind"they put whateve programmes out there for you to watch at their own discretion they really dont care its all about their ratings. The media puts all these garbage programmes out there "non educative" for our sistahs to be addicted to, next thing you know they are trying to look and behave like these people on TV, Telenovas are everywhere on Ghana TV these days it doesn't matter whether it is spanish, or mandarin . Outside of Ghana nobody puts Ghanaian telenovas or programmes on their screens "if we even have some" to promote our culture, i remember those days when maame dokonu had by the fireside programme, it was so educative i wonder why we dont have such programmes anymore. Please lets join hands and lift mother Ghana up!
