As far as I'm concerned, they committed suicide. There are reasons why life jackets are made. They are made for those who can't swim and even for those who can swim and value their lives, they put them on as soon as they step on a boat or anything that floats on a mass body of water.

So for someone who has very good thinking faculties at his/ her disposal to jump into/unto a watercraft without a life jacket is tantamount to committing suicide especially if that indidual or idviduals know they cannot swim. From all the reports coming out, it looks the duo didn't have life jackets on.

So as sad as the story is, life still moves on. They went on a "suicide mission" without their life jackets and they got exactly what they went in search of. If they vaued their lives, then they should have followed simple safety rules... humans are not made to live in or under water. You need a SCUBA gear to stay alive under water for a limited time and a life jacket to survive if you get accidentally dumped into a large body of water. These are simple rules tested to be true so if one fails to follow them, he or she does so at their peril.

Some 'macho' man and his girlfriend thought they were untouchable and the simple rules didn't apply to them and they paid the ultimate price so why should the rest of us stop talking politics?
I know mistakes and accidents happen but that situation was completely avoidable.

A good lesson for all of us to learn from.

May their souls rest in peace.
