Since 1992 I've had a soft spot for the soft spoken coach and have always been in his corner in both good and bad times. I've also come to learn the hard way that Kwasi Appiah is indecisive, lacks self confidence, technically bankrupt and these put together do not elicit much applause and respect for him. His actions on and off the playing field depict him as incompetent. He's not your hands-on manager and appears to be always looking over his shoulders. On whose side then is Kwasi Appiah? Is it the GFA,his paymaster, the NDC administration, the political overlords who wield power over life and death in Ghana, or is it the playing body? Certainly not the playing body. The players are professionals and the payment of their appearance fees should be non-negotiable. Any competent football manager would always fight for his players' welfare in much the same way a captain would fight for his troops on the battlefield because his success or failure depends to a large extent on the competency, commitment, motivation and preparedness of his troops . Kwasi Appiah's failure in Brazil was preventable and self-inflicted because he chose to be on the wrong side of each issue. Instead of firing Muntari and Boateng he's the only one who needs to be fired for gross incompetency. That should be the beginning of the cleansing process of Ghana football administration and finally separating sports in general from politics but I doubt if it's ever going to happen. We always play the ostrich.

Nevertheless, I'm sad to know the millions of dollars spent on a group of players, when there's huge social, political and economic problems in the country. Sometimes, government priority is amazing unsatisfactory. If these on-goings doesn't change, then there isn't much hope for Ghana's development.
