Congo Kinshasa is the best in music.
Go anywhere in the world and the Rhumba/soukoss is quickly identified as the Africa music.
Congolese music sells better world wide than Nigeria or south Africa music.
If Ghanaian musicians can emulate Congolese greats like TABULEY arguably the best musician ever to come from Africa they will berrecognised world wide.

We must take music and the arts more seriously, especially in our schools.Do we expect to be doing the same old things in the same old ways just like our politics and expect different and great results? No way. What is needed is a new approach to music.
Jazz, classical, and other forms of music, including our own dance and traditional music must be taught by accomplished performers and educators from the lowest to the highest level in education.Poetry and literature must be taught with increased fervor and intensity.
How can a person call himself a musician in Ghana when he does not even own the musical instrument he claims to play? You can count the number of keyboard players in Ghana on your finger tips.
Our singers will sing better if they can play a musical instrument, especially the piano or the guitar. This would release their imprisoned souls, give them more room to search their creative instincts and we will see how they will appeal to a wider and more diverse audience.
We don't need to re-invent the wheel. All we need to do is just look at success stories which abound worldwide.A formal education in music is very helpful. In addition to training more accomplished instrumentalists, we also need to train more arrangers, choreographers, voice trainers, etc. In short we need more musicologists.

I challenge our youth to look elsewhere in the region for original musical inspirations. Mali musicians are known all over the world because they are not copy cats.

There is no honesty in the Ghana music industry. You can be the best, but if you don't pay your music will not get played and you will not be recognized. They downplay their own and uplift others.

One of the major problems with us (Ghanaians): we alike the leaf blown by the wind. We never develop what we start. We always want quick money so whatever wind brings money we will desert what we have and flow with the wind!
