It's the Ghanaian musicians who put their music on the net for free downloads. They only want more people to copy and play their music in order to promote it. Then they look forward to getting invited for shows. That's their aim. Yes, the industry will collapse soon.

Ghanaians only love free music and thanks a lot to ALL the DJs in GHANA who starved musicians out of PAYOLA greed

Collapse of Ghana music is not dependent on music download or PAYOLA by fm stations only. The current crops Ghanaian musicians have refused to define clearly what the Ghanaian original tune is as done by their predecesors; that made Ghanaian music unique anywhere around the world.
Today's Ghana music is very very close in tune with their Nigerian counteparts and when played outside Ghana it is easily taken for a Nigerian artist esp. in Southern and East African countries. When you copy other peoples work to such an extent you simply live under the shadows of the original owner of the music, that alone is enough to kill your talent faster than PAYOLA.
Another killer of Ghanaian music is the long overdue promotion of AZONTO music type and dance steps which has become so stale the admirers of AZONTO outside this country have moved on in other directions and yet we still have Ghanaian musicians producing music with AZONTO dancing steps in mind.
Bad still is the new craze for dance hall music of the Jamaican origin. Everyone seem to be at their copy best of a hoax voice typical of a Jamaican dance hall artists. How can you be at your best in copying other peoples style and expect to be recognised outside Ghana, you are simply just a COPYCAT.
The Nigerians hit the rooftop in music because of their originality and ability blend local tune with western style. Ghanaian musician should strife to be original and stick to it as identity of the Ghanaian style.

Original styles or not Ghana music is dead. The question here is the mentality of the consumer public. Ghanaians DO NOT like to pay for music regardless of its purity. Ghanaians love music but have no respect for musicians dating back to old times. How do Ghanaians abroad especially in the
USA compile music and distribute them for FREE at outdoorings and funerals to say "thank you" and also expect the music industry to thrive. Who should put their money into music for others to copy...please.
Lastly, the person calling someone's comments stupid is not polished to be on this forum. Next time please use the word "DISAGREE" but the other word is too typical of GHANAIANS hence the state of Ghana.

ARE SOME GHSNAIANS LOOSING THE COMMON SENSE AND INTELLIGENT TO ARGUE ISSUES BASED ON FACTS OR WE NOW HAVE TOO MANY ILLITARATES PARADING AS EDUCATED PEOPLE IN OUR SOCIETY,? IT VERY DISTURBING THE GHANAIAN WILL CHOOSE TO INSULT FIRST BEFORE HE UNDERSTANDS THE TOPIC HE IS DEALING WITH. IT'S A SHAME TOO MANY HALF EDUCATED PEOPLE ARE PARADING THE STREETS PRETENDING TO BE EDUCATED SIMPLY BY EXHIBITING HOW GOOD THEY LOOK WEARING GEANS & POLO SHIRTS. IT'S A SHAME.
