The searching debate is a healthy one and you all are urged to continue until you land on a generally accepted and befitting name. It is high time we somehow quit "copying" from the westerners most of the time.

Ghallywood do not exist outside Ghana. Finding another name will rather kill your industry more. Because you have to build up the name and that will take time. Ghallywood is already in the process.

With all the beauty in our rich and diversified culture, why is it so difficult for typical Akans who happen to have all forums and media at their disposal, never find anything fascinating in Hausa, Ewe, Nzema or Ga. In the s ...

Call it Ghana Movies, that's what it is. Gallywood sounds so much like gari or some stpid chic with half a brain. Why do we have to copy Hollywood. Such names are coined with time, don't rush and force and coin some nonsense. ...

Mr. David Dontoh can you please explain what 'dua' means in english if you say 'wood' is a dead tree?

  • WiseUP 10 years ago

Tree is "Dua", Wood is "Taaboo", and stick is "Abaa". When people refer to trees, they are usually referring to a living plant with an elongated stem, or trunk, supporting leaves or branches. The later (wood and stick), is an ...

Why not simply Golden? Nana Akua, I got the idea from you but then the wood or Ghally makes it quite uninspiring. That's my view, but I guess "Golden" is simply beautiful, also my view!

  • DOGO 10 years ago

I think just "Golden" is better or If they like, they can spice it up with The Golden House Movie Industry.

  • Polo 10 years ago

Golden will be good, if the movies will live up to the quality of the name. for now we can call it shit, since the movies are of a very low quality, i.e. from bad scripts to bad acting to unwanted background music.

  • BigJoe 10 years ago

I think the best name for our movie industry is GOLDENGHANA MOVIE, OR GHANAGOLDEN MOVIE,OR GOLDGHANA MOVIE, GHANGOLD MOVIE.
