3. It is common knowledge that many of Ghana's customs check poits are porous particularly at night. Otherwise, they are controlled by self-serving officers.
4. These factors tilt the playing field in favour of the textile pirates, starves the government of precious taxes, threatens the security of the Ghanaian textile industry, and worsens the unemployment situation.
5. In view of all of the above, I think the Ghana government must, as a condition of its economic development strategy, implement actions plans to plug the the leakage at the customs entry points immediately.

Despite the so called World Free Trade, developped countries find ways to protect their national industries. Don't be naive! Measures should be taken to protect national industries to protect jobs and know-how.
