OJB replies Juliet Ibrahim's kidney transplant comment

Ghanaian actress Juliet Ibrahim posted a message on her instagram page sometime last week, saying kidney transplant does not cost more than $50k.

She therefore wondered why people raising funds for OJB were requesting for $100, 000. The following is what she said:

I think it’s about time I speak up on this OJB topic that most of u ignorant people are using to harass and insult celebrities. First of all, every celebrity has his/her own responsibilities n family to take care of, if a colleague is ill n needs help we do contribute in our own way to help out whichever way we can. I don’t see why u people can’t help out as well? Who said ur 1000 naira can’t amount to something that can raise the sum needed for OJB’s transplant? For u people tagging me in ur tweets, I am sure u know I run a kidney disease foundation, hence I will know the exact cost for a kidney transplant in India. I have been quiet, cus I have asked the people in charge of OJB broadcast to contact my foundation because I know a kidney transplant will not cost more that 50k usd. Why are they requesting 100k when so many cheaper deals with hospitals out there in India even in Ghana can be worked out to save OJB? To get the necessary help, those in charge of OjB fundraising need to reach out to the right people and stop harassing celebrities for funds.

Well, OJB has responded to that. The ailing music producer and singer told Encomium Magazine the following in an interview.

The mistake she (Juliet Ibrahim) is making is that it depends on the hospital you are going to in India. She says she runs a foundation; they might give her a rebate. The procedure itself is $55, 000. When you take out $55, 000, you are left with $45, 000. What about the running cost of the procedure? You don't go to India only to come back and start asking for help again. At least, I need some money to maintain myself for the next one year. So when you factor in all these costs, add air tickets and lodging, you will appreciate what we are talking about.
