Former Shatta Movement member, Joint77, has alleged that Shatta Wale stopped releasing songs the group made because he felt they had become “too big” and saw them as a threat to his dominance.

Speaking in an interview on Adom TV, Joint77 claimed the group’s growing popularity made fans demand more music from them, but despite recording several songs, they were never released.

According to him, the Militants hoped Shatta Wale would publicly endorse them and encourage them to release more music as their fan base expanded, but that was not the case.

“If he was here to reply to this, I would have been happy because when it got to a point where we became big, and the people wanted more, we were looking to see that he would personally say that because the fans liked us, we should record more singles. We started recording, but he wasn’t releasing them. To me, I felt like he thought we had become too big. He felt threatened,” he alleged.

When reminded that Shatta Wale had previously accused the Militants of becoming lazy after attaining fame, Joint77 declined to respond in detail, stating that revisiting the issue would only reignite controversy.

“I don’t even want to go there because if I do, it’s going to bring up a lot of things. You might even say I am bitter because recently I went for an interview and I was asked about it. I was trying to tell the truth about whatever went on, and the question from the presenter was, ‘It seems you’re quite bitter,’ and I felt some way, so I don’t want to go there,” he said.

Joint77 was a member of the Militants, the music group formed under Shatta Wale, alongside Captan and Addi Self. The group eventually disbanded after falling out with the dancehall musician.
