Kumawood actor Kwaku Manu has drawn a sharp comparison between colleagues John Dumelo and Agya Koo, questioning the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) treatment of the latter.

In an interview on Angel FM, shared on social media and sighted by GhanaWeb on September 8, 2026, Kwaku Manu noted that Agya Koo has not been appreciated enough by his political party.

According to him, Agya Koo worked tirelessly for the NPP but was never appointed to any leadership position while the party was in power.

Kwaku Manu stressed that Agya Koo’s influence and sacrifices should have earned him recognition, noting that he contributed more to the NPP than Dumelo did to the NDC.

"In my hometown, the NDC has never won an election before. I remember during President Kufuor's time, we went on a rally and some people went missing. I don't vote for a political party, but I vote for the right leadership.

"Look at Agya Koo and John Dumelo. Who has really worked for his party? But now look at where John Dumelo is as a minister," he said.

Kwaku Manu added that one's level of education should not be used as a yardstick for determining who qualifies for leadership positions.

He pointed out that many successful businesses in Ghana were founded by individuals without formal education.

"If they are giving appointments to people because of how educated the person is, then during the campaign, they should make the educated people campaign for the party. If you say only educated people should rule Ghana, then you have made a big mistake.

"There are a lot of uneducated people in the country who have opened businesses and even employed educated people. Agya Koo didn't go to school, but look at the way he has impacted Ghanaian movies. Do you know the number of Ghanaians living abroad who are learning Twi?" he added.
