Keche Joshua, a member of the Keche music group, has expressed frustration over the rising cost of domestic flights in Ghana.
Speaking in a video shared on social media, he questioned why travelling by air from Accra to cities such as Kumasi and Takoradi had become so expensive.
According to him, passengers can pay between GH¢5,000 and GH¢6,000 for domestic flights, a situation he believes is unreasonable when compared to the cost of international flights.
“Currently, domestic flights in this country, when you travel to Kumasi or Takoradi, round trip, you pay about GH¢5,000 to GH¢6,000. Meanwhile, how much do EgyptAir and Emirates flights to Dubai cost?” he questioned.
Keche Joshua attributed the situation partly to the poor state of some major roads in the country, particularly the routes leading to Kumasi and Takoradi.

He appealed to the Minister of Roads and Highways to prioritise the construction and improvement of the roads, stressing that travellers are tired of dealing with the dangerous conditions.
“If you travel by road, the Kumasi and Takoradi routes are in poor condition. On the way to Kumasi, you can encounter 15 to 20 accidents along that stretch. The Minister of Roads and Highways should fix the roads for us because we are tired,” he said.
The musician further alleged that domestic airline operators were taking advantage of the poor road network to charge passengers what he described as outrageous fares.
He also took a swipe at the food served on some domestic flights, joking that passengers were charged huge amounts but were not given quality meals.
“After paying the high price, they won’t serve you rice or yam on the flight. Even the chips they will serve you taste like they’ve been there for six days, and they're very hard. If they won’t serve us good food on the flight, they should reduce the prices,” he added.
