I sincerely think being an MP in Ghana requires more giving than taking back.They invest between 2 million and 5 million in campaigns alone.Then after elections,they now have to give out more than 10 thousand cedis every week, especially during the weekend for funerals and naming ceremonies and school fees.How much is their pay? And how much do they get from under the table as committee members? Even if you add their Ex Gratias to all that they earn,it can never amount to what they spend.The benefits and attraction in the position is just the name,the respect and the leverage that inures to the title,honorable! Being a minister is far better.And they don't spend to even campaign,or on constituents that much.Their pay and pecks and earnings from inflated and corrupt deals are in the millions just from one contract alone.Let's give our MPs their due! Minus them,many would not have even gone to school nor gotten set-up in petty businesses nor employment as nurses,teachers and in the security sector.
