Legendary Ghanaian actress Nana Ama McBrown marked her 49th birthday in grand style with the premiere of her latest movie, Ama, at the UPSA Auditorium in Accra.
The highly anticipated event was held in three sessions, 2:00 pm, 5:00 pm, and 8:00 pm, with each showing attracting a full house as hundreds of fans thronged the venue to celebrate the actress and watch the film.
Beyond the movie premiere, patrons were treated to an entertaining lineup of surprise musical performances. Ghanaian singer KiDi thrilled the audience with some of his biggest hit songs, while Kuami Eugene, Wendy Shay, Lord Paper, Lasmid and several other musicians also took to the stage, turning the event into a celebration of both film and music.

Among those who attended the premiere to support McBrown and watch the movie were Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Dzifa Gomashie, Ghanaian comedian Jeffrey Nortey, comedian General Nntatia, brand influencer and content creator Quecy Official, Ghanaian-Nigerian-based actor Nana Yaw Addae, as well as several other popular TikTok content creators and influencers who turned up in their numbers for the occasion.
Unlike many Ghanaian productions that feature an established cast, Ama serves as a platform for discovering and nurturing young talent. Speaking at the premiere, McBrown explained that the project forms part of her vision to revive Ghana’s movie industry by creating opportunities for aspiring actors and actresses.
Among the fresh faces introduced in the movie is Whoisaclaw, who wrote and directed the film.
The production also features several talented TikTok content creators making their acting debut alongside McBrown and actor-comedian Aka Ebenezer.
According to McBrown, investing in young creatives is one of the ways to rebuild Ghana’s once-thriving film industry and inspire a new generation of actors.
The movie itself carries strong social messages, highlighting the importance of education, particularly for the girl child, while condemning child and early marriage. It also encourages parents not to place their financial burdens on their children but instead make sacrifices to secure a better future for them through education.
With its emotional storytelling and powerful life lessons, Ama resonated strongly with the audience, who applauded the production after the screening.
The celebration continued long after the movie ended as musicians returned to the stage to entertain fans with back-to-back performances, capping off a memorable evening that celebrated both McBrown’s birthday and her latest contribution to Ghana’s film industry.
