Ghanaian musician Lord Paper has disclosed that he needs at least $5 million to properly relaunch his music career and compete at the highest level of the global music industry.
Speaking in an interview with Nana Romeo on Okay FM on August 13, 2026, Lord Paper stated that the music industry has grown beyond individual countries, making it necessary for artistes who want international recognition to invest heavily in promotion.
“I need at least $5 million to properly launch my music career and do some projects,” he said.
According to the musician, artistes are no longer competing only within Ghana, as every new release is now competing for attention with music from countries such as Nigeria, the United States and other major markets.
“Now the music industry is huge and it’s not just Ghana anymore. When you drop a song, you’re competing with Nigeria, the US and other countries,” he explained.
Lord Paper noted that the amount an artiste needs to invest depends largely on the market they are targeting.

He shared that an artiste who wants to focus solely on the Ghanaian market may not require as much money, but anyone hoping to compete with internationally recognised artistes such as Nigerian star Rema needs a significantly bigger budget.
“If you want to box yourself to just Ghana, then the budget will be smaller, but if you’re looking at catching up with Rema and co, you need to have a bigger budget,” he stated.
The musician believes promotion is one of the most important factors in determining how far a song can travel, regardless of the quality of the music.
“It’s all about promotion. If you’re able to promote it to the right audience, it will go far because the sound is good,” he said.
Reflecting on his own career, Lord Paper admitted that he has not invested enough in promoting his music, which he believes has contributed to the relatively slow pace of his progress.
“I feel like I don’t do enough promotion as a musician, that’s why things are a bit slow for me,” he acknowledged.
