Ghanaian actor Van Vicker has responded to allegations made by filmmaker and actor Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, regarding his alleged withdrawal from an upcoming movie project.

In a statement shared with GhanaWeb on August 11, 2026, Van Vicker dismissed claims that he pulled out of a film just a day before shooting was scheduled to begin, insisting that he never formally agreed to participate in the project.

The actor made his position clear, rejecting any suggestion that he would participate in what he described as a misleading publicity stunt.

“I refuse to be part of any misleading or mischievous promotional stunt,” Van Vicker said.

According to Van Vicker, discussions about the movie were initiated by a director identified as Big Matt, who informed him that he was working on behalf of Lil Win and proposed that he feature in two separate productions to be shot in Kumasi.

Van Vicker explained that he was unavailable on the initial dates proposed for filming, prompting Big Matt to suggest alternative dates in an attempt to accommodate his schedule.

He noted that he agreed to review his availability and requested copies of the scripts before making any commitment.

The actor further stated that although there were instances when he was unable to answer some phone calls due to his busy schedule, he always made efforts to return the calls or respond as soon as possible.

According to him, several days before production was due to begin, he informed Big Matt that prior commitments and his demanding work schedule would not allow him to take part in the project.

Van Vicker disclosed that following his response, Big Matt attempted to adjust the production schedule by reducing his proposed shooting period from three or four days to two days in the hope of reaching a compromise.

However, he said he still had to decline the offer because of earlier engagements.

He added that Big Matt later informed him that the script had been specifically written with him in mind, a detail he said was not communicated at the beginning of their discussions.

“He mentioned that the script had been written specifically for me. I noted that he should have shared that detail from the very beginning, as it might have influenced my consideration, though availability remained the primary constraint,” Van Vicker stated.

Addressing claims that he cancelled his participation a day before filming, the actor described such assertions as false and outlined three reasons for his position.

“Accusations that I canceled just one day before filming are false for three clear reasons: 1. I never agreed to join the project. We were still deliberating the matter. 2. I never confirmed any shooting dates. 3. We never discussed nor finalized my professional fees. Big Matt and Lil Win scheduled their production dates, assuming I would participate, and they are now accusing me of cancelling,” he stated.

Van Vicker further indicated that Ghana has many talented actors who can take on movie roles when scheduling conflicts arise.
