In a deeply heartbreaking scene, the marital bond between musician Choirmaster and his late wife, actress Beverly Afaglo, was symbolically severed forever during her final funeral rites.

The solemn ceremony, attended by family members, close friends, and colleagues from the creative arts industry, provided an opportunity for loved ones to pay their last respects to the late actress.

A viral video from the service captured the painful moment as the officiating pastor, Choirmaster, and loved ones gathered directly around the casket bearing Afaglo's body.

Addressing the grieving husband, the pastor led Choirmaster through the ritual required to officially release him from his marital vows.

"Because you made vows, we will go through the vows and break the marriage officially. After this, you are no longer married. You are a single man. You can decide to be on your own or decide to get a partner," the pastor declared.

A visibly distraught Choirmaster, who had been married to Beverley for 13 years, was directed to stretch out his hand and ring finger while the pastor prayed over him, officially declaring their marriage vows broken in accordance with Christian traditions.

Overwhelmed by grief during the solemn ritual, Choirmaster could not hold back his tears as onlookers offered support.

Ghanaian actress and businesswoman Beverly Afaglo Baah passed away on May 24, 2026, at the age of 42 after battling cancer. Her death occurred just four days before her 43rd birthday.

She is survived by Eugene Kwadwo Boadu Baah (popularly known as Choirmaster of the highlife/hiplife music group Praye), and their two daughters.

The funeral service brought together family members, friends, and leading figures from Ghana’s film, creative arts, and music industries who gathered to pay their final respects.
