Ghanaian actor and Deputy National Film Authority (NFA) Secretary, James Gardiner, has paid a moving tribute to the late Beverly Afaglo, revealing her deep desire to see the local film industry restored to its former glory.

Speaking to Ghanaweb’s Patience Adu at the funeral service of Afaglo on Saturday, August 8, 2026, in Accra, Gardiner expressed profound sorrow over the premature loss of his colleague while pledging to cherish the memories they shared.

"I am going to hold on and cherish every memory I have of her and have shared with her. We never thought that we were going to say goodbye to her this early, but God has His own plans for all of us. She will forever be loved," he stated.

Recalling his fondest memory with the late actress, Gardiner highlighted their time together on the political campaign trail, which cemented a deep, lasting friendship among a core group of actors.

"It was during the time we were campaigning for John Mahama in 2016. We toured the whole country; her, myself, John Dumelo, Roselyn Ngissah. That was where we bonded the most and became closer friends," he shared.

He assured that the NFA is actively working toward that vision in her honor.

'We are working to revive the industry for her,’ he stated.

Addressing her professional legacy, Gardiner noted that Afaglo remained passionate about reviving Ghana's creative arts sector.

"She would have wished for the industry to be vibrant again. Which is what we are working on. I don’t want this to be political, but we are doing what we can in the office and hopefully she would be happy with what we are doing," Gardiner added.
