Media personality Yaa Yeboah and Head of Communications at Burniton Music Group, Vida Adutwumwaa Boateng, have criticised media personality Mona Gucci for “defending” the stampede that occurred during ShattaFest UK in London.

Speaking on “Vida Unfiltered Studios,” aired on YouTube on August 3, 2026, Vida Adutwumwaa Boateng described Mona Gucci’s remarks celebrating Shatta Wale over the crowd rush at the event as “utter nonsense.”

“It is stupidity at its highest degree,” she said.

Yaa Yeboah also took issue with Mona Gucci’s argument that because people fainted at concerts by the late pop icon Michael Jackson, Shatta Wale should not be blamed for the crowd rush at a concert he headlined.

She questioned whether Mona Gucci was proud that a concert headlined by Shatta Wale had triggered a stampede that left several people injured.

“This is a malnourished analysis. So you are proud about the fact that your artiste is the first African artiste to trigger a stampede?” Yaa Yeboah questioned.

Both Yaa Yeboah and Vida Adutwumwaa Boateng argued that incidents at Michael Jackson’s concerts cannot be compared to what happened at ShattaFest UK.

“It has never been reported that there was a fatal stampede at a Michael Jackson show. People who collapsed at his concerts did so because of overexcitement, dehydration, and the intense crowd atmosphere, not suffocation. Nobody went to a Michael Jackson show where people were frying yam and a gas explosion occurred.

“Neither was there only one entrance for attendees to struggle to access the event grounds. Why are you even comparing this to Michael Jackson in the first place? Are you okay? What is there to compare?” they said.

Michael Jackson had fans fainting too; why blame Shatta Wale? – Mona Gucci on ShattaFest stampede

Background

ShattaFest UK, held in collaboration with Ghana Party in the Park, was cancelled on August 1, 2026, after police halted the event at Copthall Playing Fields in London following a crowd crush.

Reports from the venue indicated that police intervened after the number of attendees exceeded the approved capacity, leading to severe overcrowding, particularly around one of the entrances. The congestion reportedly resulted in a stampede, leaving several people injured.

Reacting to the incident, Mona Gucci argued that when people fainted at Michael Jackson’s concerts, he was celebrated as the GOAT of world entertainment, but Shatta Wale was instead being blamed for poor organisation after a crowd rush at his concert.

“People fainted at Michael Jackson’s concerts many years ago n Michael was labeled the GOAT of entertainment in the world BUT when it’s same at my son SHATTA WALE’s concert they said it’s a poor organizational skills…!

“Let me burst ur bubble…SHATTA WALE is a gOD…he is worshipped..! The first African artist to trigger a ‘stampede’ in the diaspora…and that is my son…. &shattawalenima Nii ARMAH ..any333.bo!! UR KING,” she wrote.
