'Very soon they will arrest all of them' - Showboy warns cyber fraudsters

Ghanaian musician Showboy has cautioned individuals involved in cyber fraud to abandon the practice, warning that more arrests could be recorded if they fail to learn from recent developments.

Speaking in a video circulating on social media, the musician criticised some of his associates for allegedly discussing fraudulent activities openly over the phone, insisting that law enforcement agencies can access digital communications during investigations.

According to Showboy, many people involved in internet fraud underestimate how closely their online activities can be monitored, making it easier for authorities to gather evidence against them.

“We will be here, and another chairman will be arrested, and when that happens, I will come here and talk about it, because my friends are fools; they don’t learn,” he said.

The musician recounted how his previous experiences had made him more cautious, expressing shock at the way some individuals allegedly coach others on what to tell potential victims during recorded phone conversations.

“I’d be with my friends, and they will be telling small boys what to say to clients. I’d be so surprised… You people are not scared of anything at all. When I came to Ghana, I was shocked because I came back with a prison mindset,” he stated.

Showboy further warned that mobile phones and social media platforms should not be considered private spaces, noting that digital evidence can be retrieved by investigators.

“I have told you that the phone storage is not yours… A white man manufactured the phone and its software. Didn’t you hear it from Dada Joe’s case?” he said.

He, however, urged young people to invest in education and skills in cybersecurity, stressing that technology continues to evolve while many offenders fail to adapt.

“When I tell you to go to school and learn, you don’t listen. Take cybersecurity classes and coding or forex to better what you’re doing; don’t you see the Americans do it? American hackers go to school to better themselves and change as the system does. Very soon they will arrest all of them, and I will come here to explain it because they don’t learn. They’re fools,” Showboy added.

His remarks come in the wake of the arrest and extradition of Ghanaian socialite Abu Trica to the United States, where he is expected to face charges related to alleged cyber fraud and romance scams.
