Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, officially welcomed musicians Shatta Wale and Medikal to the institution’s headquarters ahead of discussions on its “Made in Ghana Jewelry” initiative.

During the visit, Sammy Gyamfi expressed delight at hosting the two artistes and explained that the building, which previously served as the head office of the Bank of Ghana, now serves as the headquarters of the Ghana Gold Board.

“As custom demands, we like to welcome you to the headquarters. It used to be the head office of the Bank of Ghana and we had the privilege to take it over sometime in June last year,” he said.

He thanked the artistes for honouring the invitation, adding, “We got information that you are here. We welcome you. We thank God for your safety.”

Sammy Gyamfi also introduced members of the GoldBoard management team present at the meeting, including Deputy Chief Executive Officer Richard, Managing Director of GoldBoard Jewelry Gertrude Medadanco, and Deputy Media Relations Officer Zena Baasun.

Introducing the officials, he said, “I’d like to introduce to you my able deputy, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, Mr. Richard. We also have the Managing Director of our subsidiary company, the company that we’ll be talking about, Gold Board Jewelry, ‘Made in Ghana Jewelry’, you’ve seen us advertise. That’s Ms. Gertrude Medadanco.”

He also made a light-hearted remark about some members of staff being fans of the two musicians.

“We have the Deputy Media Relations Officer, Zena Baasun here. Another staff member of Gold Board who I know belongs to the SM movement. They support your brother Medikal. They are all here because you are here,” he joked.

Concluding his welcome, Sammy Gyamfi invited the artistes to share their thoughts, saying, “So you are welcome. We’d like to hear from you.”

The meeting is expected to centre on Gold Board Jewellery’s “Made in Ghana Jewellery” campaign, an initiative aimed at promoting locally crafted jewellery and supporting Ghana’s gold value chain.
