Ghanaian music superstar Black Sherif could not hide his excitement after Lionel Messi produced another moment of magic to keep Argentina's FIFA World Cup 2026 title defence on track.
The reigning Artiste of the Year, in a video shared on his Snapchat handle on July 7, 2026, was filmed screaming with delight as Argentina completed a stunning 3-2 comeback victory over Egypt in the Round of 16, a result that sent the defending champions through to the quarter-finals.
In the reaction video that quickly went viral, Black Sherif was seen screaming into the camera before expressing his admiration for the 39-year-old Argentine.
"Merci beaucoup," he said. The French term for "thank you", which also serves as a play on words, referring to Messi's name.
Argentina had looked destined for a shock exit, falling 2-0 down with less than 15 minutes of regulation time remaining. Messi, however, had other ideas, first setting up Cristian Romero with a pinpoint assist before pulling one back himself to level the score.
The comeback was then sealed in the most dramatic fashion when Enzo Fernández headed home in the 92nd minute to send Argentina into the last eight.
