Popular Ghanaian musician Mzbel has condemned a decision by the founder of Glorious Wave Church International, Prophet Emmanuel Badu Kobi to sell the land on which his church was located after relocating.
The drama began after rumours circulated on social media that the founder of Glorious Wave Church International was selling his church property at Sakumono Estate to settle massive debts.
Speaking on UTV’s United Showbiz on May 23, 2026, the '16 Years' hitmaker said she found the entire situation disappointing, particularly after reports emerged that controversial fetish priest Kweku Bonsam had expressed interest in purchasing the land and converting it into a shrine.
"It is disappointing to hear that Prophet Badu Kobi chose to sell his church; that is an embarrassment to God. God has instructed you to relocate your church to another place and leave the land you are currently on. And you say you want to sell the church land? And now Kweku Bonsam has expressed interest in buying and converting the place into a shrine,” she said.

Mzbel noted that she had no issue with him relocating the church as long as it was an instruction from God, but said there was no point in selling the sacred ground on which it once stood.
"There is no problem with shutting down the church. But the land on which the church is located is a sacred place, and you are selling it? And you are even willing to sell it to anyone, to the extent that a fetish priest wants to buy it?" she said.
Addressing speculation that the sale was as a result of debt, she stated that God can intervene on Badu Kobi’s behalf instead of the pastor taking matters into his own hands.
"Even if he is in debt and needs financial aid, God will do something to get him out of that situation. But he is on various media outlets embarrassing God. God has not instructed him to sell the land. Unless God gave him the instruction to sell it, then I will understand. But if he has no instruction and he is willing to sell it, I am very disappointed. He is not selling God right,” she said.
Meanwhile, in an interview on OKAY FM with Nana Romeo on May 15, 2026, Prophet Badu Kobi acknowledged that some aspects of the rumours were true but insisted the sale was not debt-driven, explaining instead that God had instructed him to relocate and start afresh at a different location and that the decision to sell or keep the property ultimately rested with him.
