Ghanaian music duo, DopeNation, have warmed hearts online after surprising their mother with a brand-new Hyundai Elantra during her 60th birthday celebration.

In a video shared on social media on May 22, 2026, the twin brothers reflected on the sacrifices their mother made for them while they were growing up and explained why they felt she deserved such a special gift.

According to DopeNation, one of their most unforgettable childhood memories was when mobile phones became popular and they asked their father for phones because they did not own any at the time.

They recounted that although their mother was living in Accra while they stayed in Takoradi, she travelled all the way to surprise them with two brand new mobile phones.

“When mobile phones became popular, we asked our father for a phone when we never had one. Our mother was in Accra and we were in Takoradi. She left all the way from Accra to come and surprise us with two brand new phones,” they said.

The musicians noted that many people who know their background are aware that they did not come from a wealthy family, but their mother remained supportive throughout their journey.

“Everyone who knows us knows that we’re not from a rosy home. She has always been there and by God’s grace, she made us reach this level,” they stated.

DopeNation revealed that the memory of that thoughtful gesture from their mother still stays with them to this day.

“She’s 60 now. Sometimes, my brother and I will just remember that phone she got us, then we will just send her money for no reason,” they shared.

However, they explained that for their mother’s 60th birthday, they wanted to go beyond simply giving her money and instead offer her something memorable and life-changing.

“Now, it’s not just money that we will give her. The way she gave us the phones, she levelled us up and we were like 12 years old,” they added.
