'You should be grateful McBrown built a platform that benefited you' - Dj Slim to MzGee

Ghanaian music producer and disc jockey, DJ Slim, has weighed in on broadcaster MzGee’s recent comments about being disappointed in Nana Ama McBrown for not defending her during the backlash that followed her takeover of the United Showbiz.

Speaking on his podcast, ‘Street Is Watching’, DJ Slim argued that McBrown owed MzGee no public defence over how Ghanaians reacted to the change in hosting duties on the show.

According to him, McBrown is not known for responding to online criticism directed at her, making it unreasonable to expect her to step in and defend someone else.

“How many times has she come out to defend herself from online controversies? She doesn’t even defend herself when people drag her on social media, so why should she be expected to defend MzGee?” he questioned.

DJ Slim further pointed out that McBrown had already left Despite Media for Onua TV.

As such, he believes she (McBrown) had no obligation to involve herself in issues surrounding the show after her departure.

DJ Slim also argued that instead of feeling entitled to McBrown’s support, MzGee should appreciate the platform she inherited, claiming United Showbiz was originally McBrown’s idea and a brand she helped build.

“The best she did was to leave a seat and a platform and build a platform that you benefited from, and you should be grateful for that instead of being entitled,” Dj Slim said

Touching further on the matter, DJ Slim questioned whether MzGee had ever publicly defended McBrown during any of the actress’s own controversies in the media.

“Did she come out to say people should stop talking about McBrown when she was being praised as better than McBrown?” He further questioned

He added, “If you want to have that level of conversation with someone, you pick up a phone and call them, not a text. That alone tells you they are not that close, so expecting that level of loyalty or public defense doesn’t make sense.”
