Ghanaian songstress Gyakie and fashion critic Charlie Dior have engaged in an online exchange over Dior’s review of the singer’s outfit at the recently held Telecel Ghana Music Awards 2026 red carpet.
Gyakie had graced the red carpet in a sleek blue gown fitted with crystals, with a head cover.
Charlie Dior, known for his usual TGMA red carpet fashion reviews, shared his thoughts on Gyakie’s look from the awards night.
“Gyakie is a memorable artiste, but we have yet to receive a memorable fashion moment from Gyakie. Her look is frustrating; the colour, the placement of the stones, I don't understand it, and why finish the look with this decorative mosquito net?” Dior had said.

He further criticised what he described as an incessant wearing of masks by many attendees of the red carpet that night.
However, the review did not sit well with the “Forever” hitmaker, who responded by posting a series of pictures capturing Charlie Dior in ill-fitted outfits, many resembling the mosquito net he had likened her dress to.
This move has been widely interpreted by netizens as a direct clapback at Charlie Dior’s comments.
To some, Gyakie’s response was necessary, as Charlie Dior is often quick to criticise others’ fashion choices yet rarely sets the standard himself.
Meanwhile, Gyakie has established that the inspiration behind her outfit was drawn from her “After Midnight” album, reflecting the creative direction, mood, and artistic vision connected to the project.
The singer explained that the concept behind the look may have been misunderstood by critics and online commentators.
Despite the criticism, many fans and fashion enthusiasts praised Gyakie’s appearance, with several social media users ranking her among the best-dressed celebrities on the red carpet at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards 2026.
