Ghanaian rapper Medikal has stated that he is unbothered by negative comments on social media, noting that online criticism is part of being a public figure.
Speaking in an interview with Nana Romeo on Okay FM on May 14, 2026, Medikal explained that artistes and creatives naturally expose their lives to public scrutiny because of the nature of their work.
According to him, once an artiste understands that criticism comes with fame, they are less likely to be affected by harsh comments.
“We’ve exposed ourselves to social media because of the work we do. Everything about us keeps going online, so I feel it’s normal when people pick up their phones to talk trash about you,” he said.
The rapper disclosed that he often finds amusement in negative comments and sometimes responds depending on his mood.
“Sometimes, when I see negative comments about me, I just laugh and have fun with them. It entertains me a lot and it’s all part of the job. Once you understand it’s part of the work, you wouldn’t let the comments bother you as an artiste or a creative,” he stated.

Medikal emphasised that he would never have someone arrested simply for trolling or insulting him online.
“I wouldn’t arrest anyone because of online trolls, but unless it’s a physical attack. When I see you insulting me online, depending on the mood I’m in, either I also insult you back, or I won’t mind you, or I will just block you,” he shared.
He explained that while he may choose to insult a troll back, ignore them, or block them, he draws the line when someone damages his property or attacks him physically.
“Unless you use something to hit my car, that one you’ve attacked me personally and physically, so I will also attack you or go to any length to get you arrested,” he noted.
Medikal also advised against disrespecting industry figures and cautioned people not to inherit other people’s grudges.
“I’m not saying we should allow people to disrespect us. It’s not good to disrespect people in the first place, especially people who are great in the industry,” he said.
He added, “I don’t think it’s a good thing to inherit people’s enemies. Someone’s issue is not your issue; you don’t have to think that since someone close to you is not cool with another person, so you will also not be cool with the other.”
