Ghanaian musician Black Sherif has explained why he decided to share the cash prize that accompanied one of his awards at the 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards with his colleagues AratheJay and Gonaboy.
Speaking in an interview on 3FM on May 13, 2026, Black Sherif mentioned that his decision was driven by a deep spiritual connection he feels with the two artistes and his belief in supporting emerging talent.
According to him, he recognised a unique bond with AratheJay and Gonaboy long before he met them in person.
“I know Arathejay and Gonaboy. When I say I know them, that’s on the spiritual side. Even when I didn’t know them personally, the first time hearing their music, my soul knew them,” he said.

Black Sherif explained that some musicians naturally share the same creative energy and artistic vision.
“There are some people, when you listen to their music, you realise you’re from the same tribe spiritually in music,” he stated.
The award-winning artiste noted that after getting to know both musicians personally and building friendships with them, it felt right to share the financial reward.
“Then I got to know them personally and we have personal relationships. It felt right and it felt progressive. I realised we need stuff like that,” he added.
