Ghanaian event MC and entertainment pundit, David Adjei Frimpong, popularly known as ‘MC Portfolio’, has disclosed that award-winning musician Black Sherif ignored his attempt to congratulate him after he was crowned Artiste of the Year at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards 2026.

Speaking during a discussion with DJ Slim on a podcast, MC Portfolio said he was left embarrassed after Black Sherif refused to shake his hand on the red carpet following the musician’s big win.

“I don’t know why, but Blacko showed me some negative energy. This is the first time I’m getting to know he has a personal issue with me,” he said.

According to him, he is still trying to understand what may have caused the musician's cold treatment.

“I’m yet to find what I did to him because I don’t understand why he acted cold towards me. I don’t know if it's because we had a discussion with his manager here on the podcast, or if there’s something else.

“After winning Artiste of the Year, I wanted to give him a handshake to congratulate him, but he didn’t shake my hand,” he shared.

He described the incident as embarrassing, adding that he had only intended to celebrate the artiste’s achievement.

“I was very embarrassed, to be honest, because I was just trying to congratulate him. He’s even the one who bumped into me and I stretched my hand. My hand was hanging, he looked at me from head to toe three times and snubbed me,” he said.

Despite the experience, MC Portfolio said he still takes pride in having supported Black Sherif early in his career and continues to admire his success.

“Blacko is the least person I would have issues with and one of the artistes I normally recommend and put on. I was shocked he embarrassed me like that on the red carpet, but that’s fine. I’m still proud of the fact that I’m one of the earliest people to put him on and to see him come this far,” he added.
