Renowned Kumawood actor Alexander Kofi Adu, popularly known as Agya Koo, has led a large crowd through the streets of Accra for the official launch of his new political party.
Viral videos circulating on social media on April 20, 2026, captured the comedian flanked by bodyguards as he led hundreds of supporters from Kwame Nkrumah Circle to Tesano for the launch.
The enthusiastic crowd, dressed in white T-shirts bearing the party's logo, made for a striking spectacle on the streets of the capital.
Agya Koo first announced the Ghana First Party, also known as The Base Movement, on April 11, 2026, describing it as a third force to challenge the decades-long dominance of the NDC and the NPP.

He subsequently arrived in Accra on April 17 to formally register the party ahead of the launch.
The move, however, has raised eyebrows, given Agya Koo's well-known history as a staunch supporter of the New Patriotic Party.
Many are questioning what prompted the dramatic shift, with speculation mounting that an influential NPP figure is being lined up as the party's flagbearer.
