Such uninformed comments. First of all, you must say Jesus was evil too, cause In the Gospel of John 2, the water Jesus turned to wine is alcoholic. In the original Greek, the word used is “oinos”, which in ancient times referred to fermented wine, not grape juice.Across the Bible, there’s a consistent distinction:
Wine itself is not condemned
Drunkenness is condemned
For example:
Wine is sometimes described as a blessing (Psalm 104:15)
But drunkenness is warned against (Ephesians 5:18) If we ban wine because it can lead to drunkenness, then logically we should also ban food because it can lead to gluttony. But the Bible doesn’t do that—it teaches self-control, not total prohibition.. Risk alone doesn’t determine sin—behavior does
Otherwise, you’d have to ban:
Money (can lead to greed)
Sex (can lead to immorality)
Power (can lead to corruption)
Yet none of those are inherently forbidden—only their abuse is.

Read 1 Corinthians 6:10 - Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.
You can even start from 1 Corinthians 6: 11 and see the admonition Paul has for the Christian. Thank you.

You are mostly right, but you are adding interpretation to a text that is plain and requires no interpretation. No, drunkards, not wine drinkers or alcohol drinkers: Let scripture interpret itself, and we will have sound doctrine. Scripture may require interpretation, but not all interpretation is equal. avoid private or isolated interpretation that ignores the whole counsel of Scripture. Gluttony is a sin, but eating food isn't. Drunkenness is prohibited, but drinking wine is permitted. Making money is permitted, but greed isn't. Don't make the risk itself a sin. Sex isn't a sin, but immorality is. You can't label something a sin just because you don't have self-control over it. Rather than making is a sin because you dont have control over it, say your personal decision is to avoid it. Dont add to God's word because of your weakness.

We can be become legalistic and impose rules and regulations over and above what the Bible instructs. While the Bible repeatedly warns strongly against letting alcohol become our master it is very wrong for some churches or ministers to make total alcohol abstinence from alcohol one of the pillars of their doctrine. HOW THEN DO WE EXPLAIN THE FACT THAT THE VERY FIRST MIRACLE THAT JESUS PERFORMED WAS TO TURN WATER INTO WINE FOR GUESTS AT A WEDDING FEAST? Like most things in life wine by itself is harmful and but abusing or using excessive amounts and using it constantly leads to dire health and social problems which is why many people avoid it especially if there is a family history of alcohol addiction or family tragedy linked to alcohol use. Others simply abstain out of habit because they grew up in homes where alcohol was never served or used.
THIS PASTOR IS RIGHT IN HIS ASSESSMENT OF THE ISSUE REGARDING ALCOHOL USE
Biblical Warnings Regarding Alcohol:
A. Drunkenness is a Sin: The Bible repeatedly warns against intoxication, classifying it as a form of debauchery or excess, such as in Ephesians 5:18 and Galatians 5:21.
B. Impaired Judgment: Alcohol is warned against because it impairs decision-making and leads to perverse or untrue speech, as noted in Proverbs 31:4–5 and Proverbs 23:33.
C. Addiction and Toxicity: Proverbs 23:31–32 describes alcohol as a serpent that "bites" and "stings," warning of the dangers of addiction.
D. Woe and Sorrow: Proverbs 23:29–35 asks who has woe and sorrow, answering that it is those who linger over wine.
E. Loss of Self-Control: Luke 21:34 warns against letting hearts be "overcharged" with drunkenness, urging believers to stay alert.
F. Neglecting the Weak: Romans 14:21 advises avoiding wine if it causes a fellow believer to stumble.
While some verses, such as Psalm 104:15, mention wine as a blessing that gladdens the heart, the overarching biblical caution is against abuse and losing control.
