Ghanaian dancehall musician Shatta Wale has claimed that he played a key role in shaping the lyrical style of some A-list artistes in the country.

During a live TikTok session on April 8, 2026, Shatta Wale stated that he influenced artistes such as Stonebwoy, Iwan, and others in how to deliver lyrically on stage.

According to him, he was among the first Ghanaian dancehall artistes to embrace freestyling during his days as Bandana.

“From Stonebwoy to Iwan, Epixode, Jupitar, and the rest, I taught them. That is why I always say when people compare Sarkodie to Jay-Z, they end up underrating Sarkodie unnecessarily,” he said.

Shatta Wale further claimed that Stonebwoy and Samini do not have strong streaming numbers, attributing it to what he described as their weaker lyrical delivery.

“You don’t know history, so keep quiet. That is why they don’t have numbers when it comes to streaming,” he added.
