Advising up-and-coming artistes strips them of experience - Black Sherif

Ghanaian global icon Black Sherif has stated that he does not advise up-and-coming artistes on how to succeed, explaining that doing so robs them of the experiences and resilience they need to build their own journey.

The Konongo Zongo native, who rose to prominence from humble beginnings, noted that while he once shared advice freely, his perspective has changed after the stages he has graced and the rooms he has entered.

According to him, young artistes must navigate their own paths and make decisions based on what they believe is right, so they can learn from the consequences.

“Somewhere in 2021, when I started music and went for interviews, and they asked me for advice for upcoming artistes, I used to have a lot. But these days, when somebody thinks because you’ve gone to BET or done this, I don’t have advice. They are always surprised, and I am too.

“I’ve been so shocked by the things I’ve seen that sometimes I feel like if I give advice, I strip people of their experience, the things they have to go through,” he explained.

Black Sherif further emphasised the role of social media in his career, describing it as an integral part of his work.

“Social media is a big deal for me. It’s so big a deal that I cannot use a day to fully describe it,” he said.
