Ghanaian photography duo Twinsdntbeg have shared their thoughts on the evolution of photography in Ghana, noting that the sector has experienced significant growths over the years.

Speaking in an interview with GhanaWeb's Elsie Lamar on Talkertainment, the duo explained that photography in the past was limited compared to what is available today.

According to them, people could only take photos during special occasions or at church services, often once a week, and would have to wait until the following week to receive their pictures when they met the photographer again.

"Growing up, we only took pictures on Sundays. When your mum probably dresses you up and there's a church photographer on standby, you go and take the pictures and get them next Sunday. Or even when we are celebrating our birthday, and that is how our parents kept memories," the noted.

They contrasted this with the current state of photography, where individuals can capture moments anytime and anywhere, with instant access to images and improved qualities due to advancements in technology.

"Looking at that time and now, we would say photography has really evolved and the respect for photographers has also improved. Right now, photographers are property-owning people," they added.

Twinsdntbeg also revealed that Ghanaian photography has evolved better than in other African countries, and it stands out and is far ahead of what is seen in many of those other countries.

"When you travel to other African countries, you see that in Ghana, we have really improved in terms of our evolution in photography, and they even learn from most of us," they revealed.

As creatives who believe they have contributed to making photography more appealing and respected, especially among young people, the duo maintained that the industry in Ghana has truly evolved and continues to grow.

"Right now, we have a lot of young people venturing into photography right after university or secondary school, and they are making income," they said.
