Ghanaian musician and human rights activist Wanlov the Kubolor has welcomed President John Dramani Mahama's recent comments stating that the controversial Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill is not a priority for his administration.

President Mahama, during an interview on March 31, 2026, had indicated that his government is currently focused on addressing the basic needs of Ghanaians, effectively putting the anti-LGBTQ+ legislation on the back burner.

Mahama on why LGBTQ+ bill is currently not Ghana’s top priority

Reacting to the development in a post on X, Wanlov described the news as positive, while also taking a swipe at proponents of the bill.

"Good News! Mahama now says Anti Human bill proposed by scum gorge dems not a priority!" he wrote.

The musician alleged that the new stance was due to the country's defence agreements with the European Union, which upholds protections for its LGBTQ+ community.

"You think you can sign a defence contract with the EU which protects its queer community and freely attack the queer community in Ghana? Siato," Wanlov added.

The outspoken artiste has been a consistent and vocal critic of the bill since it was introduced in 2021, using his platform to advocate against what he considers a violation of human rights.
