Ghanaian content creator and actor Deaconess Abokomah has called for increased government support for the creative arts industry.
In an exclusive interview with GhanaWeb’s Patience Adu, the digital creator noted that industry players are putting in significant effort to produce engaging content and entertain audiences, but continue to operate with little to no support.

“What we want the government to do is just to promote us because we are doing a lot of work. We are just putting smiles on people’s faces, but the issue is that the entertainment industry does not receive enough support. So I think the government should look at that side and invest more in our creative arts,” he said.
He further emphasized that although content creation is a lucrative venture, Ghana’s creative space still lags behind other countries due to the lack of proper structure and infrastructure to support production.
“When you travel to other countries, you see they are more advanced. There are dedicated studios for creative arts people, but in Ghana, we don’t have such facilities. If you want to create content, you have to find a location yourself. If we had a large, well-equipped studio, it would make things much easier. So if the government could create such spaces for us, it would really help,” he added.
