Head of Communications at Burniton Music Group, Vida Adutwumwaa Boateng, has disclosed that Stonebwoy’s 2024 record “Believe in Africa” was written by the NPP’s Gabby Otchere-Darko.
In an interview on Adom TV on March 28, 2026, Vida explained that ahead of the Africa Prosperity Dialogue, Stonebwoy was contracted to create a song for the event, and Gabby, who knows how to write, penned the lyrics for Stonebwoy to perform.
“If you remember, the organisers of the Africa Prosperity Dialogue contracted Stonebwoy to create a song aimed at promoting development across the continent. He went on to record ‘Believe in Africa’ and even performed it when African leaders gathered in Ghana. The song was written by Gabby Otchere-Darko,” she said.
NDC's adoption of 'Jejereje' as campaign song strained relations – Stonebwoy
The Head of Communications at Burniton Music Group made the statement following Stonebwoy’s remarks at the Black Stars World Cup Fundraiser at the Kempinski Hotel on March 21, 2026, where he mentioned that his song ‘Jejereje’ contributed to the victory of the National Democratic Congress in the 2024 elections.
Stonebwoy’s statement sparked reactions from some members of the New Patriotic Party, who accused the artiste of being aligned with the NDC.
However, when the New Patriotic Party was in power, some members of the National Democratic Congress also stated that Stonebwoy was aligned with the NPP, describing him as “Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko’s boy” and “Gyankroma Akufo-Addo’s buddy,” due to his relationship with the individuals mentioned.
