Following the release of the nominees list ahead of the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), some artistes have shared their petitions directed to the TGMA board either seeking clarifications or inquiring why they were not nominated for certain categories.
Artistes including AratheJay, LalixLola and RCee have been known to petition the TGMA board.
While these three are widely known, spokesperson for the TGMAs, Robert Klah, has confirmed that the Board has received more than ten official petitions from artistes in the lead-up to the awards and has assured that every petition will receive a direct response.
Speaking on UTV's United Showbiz on March 28, 2026, Klah disclosed that the board has already held meetings and arrived at final decisions regarding the petitions.
He however, noted, that responses would be communicated privately to the respective petitioners, not released to the general public.
"Every petition filed to the board will receive a direct answer. The answer will not be public because it was addressed to the board. If at the end of the day, the second party chooses to put it out there, that is up to them," he stated, adding that all petitioners should expect their feedback by March 31.
“We have received official petitions via email, over 10. Every petition filed to the board will receive a direct answer. The answer will not be public because it was addressed to the board. If at the end of the day, the second party chooses to put it out there. That is up to them.
“All of them will receive their feedback by Tuesday. Meetings have been held and the final results have been made,” he said.
Klah also addressed concerns about the board's decision-making process, insisting that any adjustments made are in the interest of the scheme's integrity and responsiveness.
"The board works with an operational guide, but it allows us to make adjustments when they are needed, not to mar the scheme but to ensure we are responsive," he explained.
In this 2026 edition, the TGMA Board revealed that there would be a ‘Swing Period’ allowing for projects released in December of the year before the year in review to be considered.
This has led to speculations of favouritism from some corners. However, Klah revealed that the concept had been in development for over three years before it was publicly announced.
"Since that thing was birthed as a concept, it's been more than three years before we put it out, because we have reviewed it over and over again and we have seen the patterns," he said.
The comments come amid heightened scrutiny of the 2026 TGMA nominations cycle, which has sparked debate among industry players and fans over the scheme's eligibility rules and selection process.
