Clement Yaw Yeboah Abrefa has addressed public perceptions about his personality and marriage, stating that he is far from a pushover despite assumptions made about him.
Abrefa, in an interview with Deloris Frimpong Manso (Delay) responded to claims that his calm and reserved demeanor suggests that his wife, popular media personality Oheneni Adazoa, controls him.
“I’m not a pushover. I can be extremely difficult. I’m human,” he said on The Delay Show.
During the interview, host Delay noted that some observers believe that judging by his quiet nature, his wife appears to dominate the relationship.
In response, Abrefa dismissed the notion that being guided by one’s spouse should be viewed negatively.
“It’s not wrong if your wife controls you. But she doesn’t control me,” he clarified.
According to him, their marriage is built on dialogue and mutual respect rather than dominance. He explained that they freely share ideas and are comfortable agreeing to disagree when necessary.
“We share ideas; we agree to disagree on issues. She knows she cannot control me,” he stated.
However, Abrefa added that even in situations where a wife exerts influence, it should not automatically be interpreted as weakness on the part of the husband.
“And even if she controls me, there’s nothing wrong with that. A man who doesn’t listen to his wife finds trouble for himself,” he said.
His comments challenge traditional assumptions about male authority in marriage, emphasizing partnership, communication and balance over rigid power dynamics.
The two got married in 2004.
