BEING A SINGLE PARENT IS NO FUN EVEN FOR THOSE WHO ARE FINANCIALLY VERY OK.
It is a well known fact, proven by countless sociological and psychological studies that children do best, develop best into emotionally healthy individuals in a two parent household where the parents have lifelong commitment to each other and to their children. Children raised that way will have the wonderful opportunity of seeing a healthy marriage modelled before them in a loving atmosphere where both parents are constantly present. Numerous studies show that children raised in single parent environments are at much higher risk of developing emotional problems, including difficulty forming stable relationships during adult life. Other risk factors linked with growing up in a single parent home include the increased risk of deliquency, crime, drug addiction and social dysfunction of all kinds. Not everyone raised in a single parent home ends up in a bad way though. We all know of individuals who went on to thrive in spite of being nurtured in an adverse environment
