  Per the laws, any marriage after an ordinance marriage without going therough the courts to divorce is invalid/void. Now don't tell me because their marriage was conducted in Germany, Ghana laws would be superior to the laws of Ghana.... The second lady and the family stand a chance of losing this.

  Which law are you basing your argument on? Civil marriages are not the same as Ghana's customary marriages that some spouses can play games with by merely walking away from them. A civil marriage that has not been dissolved in a court of law remains a valid marriage between the parties no matter how long they've been separated from each other. Your argument sound like the empty noise those Nsuta lawyers are making, and they even claim Lumba left behind instructions for division of his assets. These are supposed to be lawyers, so why aren't referencing a the existence of a will if indeed there ever was one instead of the claim of 'instructions left behind'?

  I sympathise and respect both wives and pray they resolve this issue amicably. If Lumba's family succeed in obtaining a favourable judgement confirming the dissolution of the marriage (customary), they can file for divorce under German law for the ordinance posthumously and this will be recognised retroactively. Check the German law on foreign marriages and divorces and you will understand my point. I am out, no pro-bono !

  the lawyer representing the family i am sure came last in his class. Lumba knew the implications of divorce that is why he nver attempted it. In the law Akosua is his only wife. as for odo broni's children they are covered

Ignorant lawyers displaying their shallowness that, 'intentional' to dissolve a marriage isn't same as marriage dissolution. Calling the bluff and still keeping marriage without dissolution is the ignorant handwork of his lawyers. They're sheepishly hiding the fact that DL was benefitting from the marriage till death. Why are they hiding medications she used to send to him? What about abusuapanyin public statements that he wasn't aware of any other marriage except that of Akosua Serwaah? These lawyers are rather making matters worse

  These lawyers fail to recognize that marriage isn't property that can be abandoned . The parties can be separated for decades, but without a legal dissolution of that marriage, the parties are still full-fledged husband and wife. One spouse may have requested a dissolution of marriage, but since no legal dissolution was ever granted by any court, the parties remained married by the date of the passing away of Lumba. These lawyers are making lame arguments to deny Serwaa of her marital rights, and the courts will likely laugh at their arguments. Simple claims are not what will determine the outcome of this case.

Even if odo Broni was a side chick, she demonstrated that she cared about lumba..u left your husband for someone to take care of him for 18 good years during his sickness and u now appear from nowhere to be claiming as a wife? Daddy lumba is genius and I know he is not going to disappoint odo Broni..odo Broni deserves fair share of everything DL has..

Only Lumba could have filed for a dissolution in Ghana since he was domiciled in Ghana, and he also could have filed in Germany since Serwaa was still domiciled in Germany, but he apparently did not do so at the time of his death. And yes, Lumba could have filed for dissolution of marriage in Ghana because Ghana recognizes civil marriages that take place in Germany, and that recognition allows a person who, though married in Germany, to initiate a dissolution of marriage in a Ghana court provided that person meets the requirement of physical presence or residency in Ghana.
