Abusua Payin, the type of marriage your relative Lumba had with Akosua Serwaa prohibited him from marrying anyone else. So Obo Broni can't be recognized, that's what we are trying to teach you, please understand.

She's not just a wife as you claim, she's a wife with rights. Serwaa and Lumba were not divorced at the time of his death. Since the marriage took place in Germany, the courts in Ghana have to recognize that civil marriage along with her marital rights. The death occurred in Ghana, and the funeral ceremonies are going to take place in Ghana, hence the courts in Ghana have jurisdiction over the case. If the court in Ghana recognize the German marriage as legitimate, then the Ghana court will look in German marital laws to determine the rights of Serwaa and the validity of any other marriages that Lumba subsequently entered into upon his return to Ghana. The family spokesperson claims Lumba and Broni were legally married, and we're not told whether it was a customary marriage or another civil marriage in Ghana. If the Ghana courts are to recognize the legitimacy of Lumba's marriage in Germany, then it's likely that the court will not recognize Lumba's subsequent marriage to another woman in Ghana since the German marital laws clearly require person's civilly married there to obtain a dissolution of marriage before entering into another marriage. But the courts in Ghana very likely will craft some conciliatory ground agreement that will allow both women to engage in the ceremony since Lumba held out Broni to be his wedded wife too. But the hardest part is yet to come, the division of assets. Polygamy and its poly-headaches.

Lumba died in Ghana was married to Odo broni according Ghana laws which recognizes both ordinance and customary marriage. Your German laws are not above Ghana laws, since the funeral will be held in Ghana in Ghana laws that will applied in everything about lumba's funeral. Ghana is not a colony under Germany.

It is about time we stop this nonsense of allowing some people trying to change our tradition. Customary issues are settle at Otumfour palace. If she thinks she is right let her goes there to disgrace herself.

It seems our Constitution clashes with our inherited traditional norms and practices when it comes to, especially, marriages, inheritance, and funeral rites.
Who is the legitimate or recognized wife of the late Charles Kwajo Fosu under our Ghanaian Constitutional provisions or our traditional laws and or practices?
Can he have two recognized wives in Ghana?

I may be ignorant of the law. But what I don't understand is why the lady Serwah didn't make any noise when she ought to know that her wedded husband was in relationship with another woman? Unless she wants to tell the public that all these years she never cared about the whereabouts of the husband. Hmmm. Had Lumba died a pauper will she have come down from Germany to the funeral?
